Principles Of The Doctrine Of Christ

Laying on of Hands Pt. 1

The instructions of Laying on of hands is essential because there are many functions to why this was done in the old testament as well as the new. It goes back to when the Levites were consecrated for service on the Tabernacle.

Numbers 8:10-12

¹⁰ And thou shalt bring the Levites before the Lord: and the children of Israel shall put their hands upon the Levites:

¹¹ And Aaron shall offer the Levites before the Lord for an offering of the children of Israel, that they may execute the service of the Lord.

¹² And the Levites shall lay their hands upon the heads of the bullocks: and thou shalt offer the one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering, unto the Lord, to make an atonement for the Levites.

There are three things that God imparts with the Laying on of hands:

1. Life
2. Blessing
3. Confirmation

It is God’s intention for these` things to be practiced in the everyday function of the church. The laying on of hands is a glorious experience & very significant. The word HAND in scripture is the symbol of power, authority, strength & might.

There are 2 major aspects of the doctrine of laying on of hands:

• Identification – By the laying on of hands, the offerer & offering become one.There is a merger of spirits. There is an identification between the person laying hands on & the one having hands laid on them.
• Impartation – Something actually happens during the laying on of hands. Something is bestowed, transferred, conferred to the person having the hands laid upon him. This is a supernatural impartation that releases physical energy  & divine life of God that effects the soul (mind, will & emotions) of man as well.

Laying hands also has a spiritual transfer of power, supernatural power, and the life of God.

Psalm 139:5-8 KJV Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it. Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
